President Trump today announced his intention to run for a third term in 2028.
At an impromptu press conference, Trump stated "After carefully thinking about the negative impact on the country of a post-Trump presidency, and my desire to complete my fundamental restructuring of the country, I have decided to be a candidate in 2028". My message to the American public is "If you like your President, you can keep your President. Period"
President Trump was asked by reporters about the impact this would have on those Americans that did not want to keep him as President and also believe this is in violation of the Constitution.
"Well, this is unfortunate, but it only affects a minority of Americans and the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. In the end this will be a better situation for them than they would pick for themselves."
He was also asked about the Constitutional restriction on a third term.
"Well, I have issued a Presidential Order to delay enforcement of this until 2032. Of course, this exemption only applies to me and not to other two term Presidents."
